1. Compare and contrast the merits and demerits of Globalism and Realism as theories of International

Relations.

of large numbers of non-state actors has altered international

relations in fundamental ways?

OR: [b] "The idea that the state has full and exclusive control over its

destiny is increasingly questionable." Discuss, citing the main

trends and developments that support and/or refute this argument.

3. Outline and elaborate upon the main factors that states generally take into account when

formulating their foreign policies.

  1. The United Nations has failed to live up to the expectations of its founders as far as its role in the maintenance of international peace and security is concerned. Discuss.

5. Describe the origins of the discipline of International Relations and account for the

directions in which the discipline has expanded since it began.

6. With reference to either the concept of power or the concept of order answer the

following-

[a] How is this concept defined in the International Relations literature; and

[b] Why is this concept Important to the study of International Relations?

 

  1. It is said that globalisation and regionalisation are the two dominant trends in the world economy today.

How have these two trends changed international economic relations in recent years?
