  1. How has the work of the United Nations (UN) changed since its inception? Discuss with reference to the current structure and work programme of the UN.
  2. Realism has survived a number of challenges to its position as the dominant theory in International Relations. Discuss two of these challenges.
  3. How does the Globalist notion of a polyarchal international system differ from the concept of the Westphalian state system as conventionally defined?
  4. How does the theory of foreign policy formulation enhance/deepen our understanding of what makers actually do? Use concrete examples to illustrate your answer.
  5. Discuss the contribution of three of the following thinkers /writers to international relations theory and practice. Be sure to relate their propositions/ideas to contemporary developments and debates in international relations:
    1. Jean Bodin

  1. What is the role of either the state, or the transnational corporation in the international political economy?
  2. How can the mainstream study of international relations contribute to one’s understanding of Jamaica’s situation in the international system? Suggest an alternative approach if you feel one may be necessary.
