GT37M Contemporary Issues in International Relations

Tutorials and handouts

On this page I'll include all the information students need for their course assignments, such as due dates and guidelines.

As this course focuses on developing and improving writing skills, tutorials will mainly comprise writing workshops. After the introductory tutorial session, for the first couple of tutorials we will have sessions in the library that will address the basics of research skills and referencing. In the third session we will discuss the layout of a paper and what is expected of students for their written assignments. In the fourth session and in subsequent sessions, we will do in-class writing exercises. These will include examining examples of book reviews, film reviews and policy papers and understanding how they are constructed. By the fifth session we will start to critique each other’s work. Selected essays will be circulated to the other tutorial members, and suggestions will be made as to how to improve the essay, as well as acknowledgement given for work that is well done.
